β° BOOK 2 of πππππππ πππππππ πππππππ
STATUS: SOON
They say secrets are safer in the dark. Don't they? Too bad for them-Sage has always been a little too good at seeing through the bullshit.
Now stuck in the realm of Ashburn, she's supposed to be honing her magick and playing the part of the dutiful student. But Sage doesn't do scripts. She's sharp, stubborn as hell, and far too reckless for her own good. While her tongue cuts deeper than her silver blade, she's learning the hard way that being perceived as the smartest and the rarest witch in the castle is just a nice way of getting a target painted on your back.
The target becomes literal when Sage is "intentionally" chosen for the Trials of Ascendancy-a grand challenge to the realm that occurs once a decade.
Sage is an apprentice. Emphasis on π’π±π±π³π¦π―π΅πͺπ€π¦. Calling her selection an "honor" is useless to her; it makes zero sense for a girl with unstable powers to be ranked alongside the realm's top prodigies for a shot at becoming the next Supreme Witch.
It's fishy, it's dangerous, and it is almost certainly funny to her. But if winning the Trials is the only way to unlock the secrets she's been sniffing out? She's in.
Sage has always relied on her reckless wits to get her through; sometimes they get her lucky, and sometimes they just get her bloodied. But as the silent ghosts in the Academy halls begin to haunt, she realizes she isn't just fighting to win-she's fighting to keep the dark from swallowing her whole.
And, if she has the time, maybe keeping everyone's sanity intact, too.
