Chronically ill Evelyn is in the process of dying-literally-when a shadowy stranger appears to offer her a second chance at life. There's a catch, however, and Evelyn finds herself not enjoying a fresh start as a healthy, average human, but living Below, a mysterious world of interconnected rooms populated by fantastical creatures-some with a taste for human flesh. The stranger who brought her there is a fashionable yet stoic demon librarian who calls himself Asmodeus, and it's not clear what exactly he wants with her. While Az, as she quickly nicknames him, works hard as a translator, he sends her to spend time learning with his estranged and unpredictable teacher, C, and her sweet and strong wife Susu. As she learns to work her new body, Evelyn begins a plot to get back to the human world of Above. But even as she struggles to understand Below in general and Az specifically, she's surprised to discover just how much she enjoys her new life-and her compulsory companion. She slowly begins to untangle who Az really is, but it's not easy-especially when something from his past is hunting them both! Part one completed, two coming soon. Updates daily at noon EST.

--Watty winner-- In Victorian London, monster hunting isn't just a job, it's a way of life. Freddie Westman, a reporter for a paranormal magazine, is one of the best in the business, but now it's personal. His childhood friend, Jim Penderry, has disappeared, and the signs point to sinister forces from beyond the grave. If Westman wants to save Jim, he'll have to face his worst fear. No, not fighting a demon with only a cake to hand. Something far more daunting. Sceptical Sophie Penderry doesn't solve mysteries or go on adventures. She's more at home in the library with her nose in The Botanist's Guide to Plants and Fungi. But she puts the science books away to help Westman find her missing brother, whether he likes it or not. Which he really doesn't. Westman is a loner, reluctant to lead anyone into danger. According to him, the supernatural is not just the stuff of folklore and children's nightmares, and a world of black magic awaits them. Now Westman must decide if he should push Sophie away for her own safety, or take a leap of faith and accept an offer of help and friendship. Either way, time is running out to find Jim, and worse still, they may not make it back in time for tea and biscuits. ~Featured story (Sep 2014 - Aug 2017) ~Selected by R.L. Esme Dupont's easy and high-class life takes a drastic turn one summer. It begins with her aunt, the Grand Wizard's, murder, a betrayal, a curse and a leap of faith off of the top of the massive Ivory Tower to her potential death. But it does not end there. Framed for the Grand Wizard's death and inconveniently cursed, Esme is forced to blackmail a young thief and force him to smuggle her from Lakeside city to the Granite Tower on the other-side of the country, where the only ally who is both magically and politically powerful enough to help her resides. But getting there will be hard and, with the police, the dangerous Wizard Tower's hunters and a begrudging ally, Esme is not at all confident she can make it in one piece, let alone alive. This wasn't the summer she had planned. This was a summer of nightmares. A summer of slyness, sneaking and shape-changing curses. A Vulpine Summer. Vulpine Summer is a young adult fantasy-romance adventure set in a fantastical 1920's world, where fashion and class mean everything and magic is barely holding its place against the ever growing science and medicine. Was titled Vulpine Summer from 2016 - 2022. Cover is my own work, drawn 2022. Author's note - Please be mindful of what you're saying when commenting. I'm happy with helpful criticism, spelling/grammar pointers, questions or simple chatter. However, a tirade of needless, unhelpful complaints and just outright rude commentary is not welcome. My stories are terrible first drafts, they're going to be riddled with issues, so just politely highlight if you feel there's a problem. I'll listen and likely take on board the criticism. And if you're not enjoying it, that's fine, just move on and thank you for giving it a shot.
