I corrected her gently. "Yaya Yusuf."
She looked puzzled. "Huh?"
"I mean... you should address me as Yaya Yusuf. It shows respect in our Hausa tradition."
She blinked, then nodded slowly. "Okayyy. Yaya Yusuf. Where are we going?"
I smiled a little. "We're going to a boutique. Or would you prefer we go to a cafΓ©? It's your call."
She thought for a moment, looking out the window again.
Then she said, "I'd like to go to the biggest library in Kaduna...Kashim Ibrahim Library."
I glanced at her, surprised. "A library? Seriously, Aisha? You want us to go to a libra..."
"Yaya Aisha." she said cutting me off.
Now it was my turn to look confused.
She smiled...small, but mischievous. "I mean... you should address me as Yaya Aisha. Respect is reciprocal, you know."
