Ayanokouji Kiyotaka never expected that a game recommended by Ike would change anything in his life. After all, he simply played it, analyzed it, and went to bed. So why did he wake up in the body of Ed Rothstaylor, a recently disowned third-rate villain, inside the world of that game? The script had nothing in store for Ed except oblivion. However, hidden between the lines, there was a much greater story behind him, one that Ayanokouji Kiyotaka will have to uncover. In any case, a puppeteer doesn't need an important role to pull the right strings.

"You will be engaged to her." That single order changes everything. Forced into contact with Lily Spencer Vallier - the daughter of an influential European conglomerate - Ayanokouji Kiyotaka is given a simple mission from the White Room: Earn her trust, connect her family to them, and do not fail. It should have been simple. At least, that's what he thought at first. But eventually, Lily is no longer the only girl he has to deal with, as what should have been a straightforward assignment gradually spirals into something resembling a cliché harem scenario he would normally avoid at all costs. Can the so-called masterpiece of the White Room truly handle everything that follows? *** REMINDER!!! - Ayanokouji does not know about the webtoon. - There is no Return by Death. - Supernatural elements exist, but they are minimal.

Quiet, average, and perfectly content staying uninvolved, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka never expected his school life to intersect with romance - especially not other people's. Yet somehow, the girls around him keep losing at love, staying close to their crushes even after the outcome is decided, smiling through conversations while someone else steps into the role they wanted. And without ever meaning to, Kiyotaka finds himself in the same place - present, included, and uncomfortably close to affection that has nothing to do with him. He never set out to pursue anyone or take part in the competition, but that doesn't stop him from being treated as though he lost all the same. Can someone who never joined the race endure being placed in the role of a losing heroine? It seems he's about to find out.

Keep in mind, this is only Trigger Happy Havoc. I've only seen the anime version since I'm too lazy to play the game or read the novel, so don't expect any of this to be parallel to the novel.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka's second chance at life gets off to a questionable start when he tricks a goddess into accompanying him to a fantasy world. His plan was simple: use her divine powers as a strategic advantage, keep a low profile, and maybe finally figure out what "living normally" means without his father's influence. Reality proves less cooperative. The goddess Aqua is situationally powerful and stupid. She attracts trouble like a magnet, spends their money on alcohol, and has made it her personal mission to build a cult following in every town they visit. The "low profile" plan dies within the first week. Now Ayanokouji finds himself managing a party of increasingly bizarre individuals in a world that runs on RPG logic, where his carefully honed manipulation skills are being tested by opponents ranging from giant frogs to his own teammates. The Demon King is supposedly a threat, but the truth is, keeping his party from killing himself seems like the more pressing concern. He survived the White Room. He can survive this. Probably.

In 2025, 152 years after magic essence flooded the world and shattered the old world, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka enrolls in Advanced Nurturing High School; an elite academy on an artificial island where essence users train to become society's future leaders. Assigned to Class D alongside students labeled as "defective," Kiyotaka keeps his head down, claiming only a weak void affinity and minimal combat ability. His classmates struggle with their own flaws: Horikita Suzune's superiority complex, Sudou Ken's poor emotional control, Kushida Kikyou's hidden darkness. But in a school where strength determines everything and essence beasts lurk in the island's wilderness, staying unnoticed may prove harder than anticipated.
