Kat's standing joke, of being from a long line of vampire hunters, has served her well over the years to explain her natural nocturnal tendencies. But when she's kidnapped three weeks prior to her twenty-fifth birthday by the father who left before she was born, she learns that her joke may have a lot more truth to it then she'd ever imagined.
Except, they're not really vampire hunters, they're vampire hunter hunters.
And the vampires? Well, that's a bit of a misconception too. Vampires, as portrayed in legend and popular culture, have never really existed. Actually, the so-called vampires are Angelic beings trapped in physical form and seeking healing on the human plane in order to return to the Heavenly Realm - but it's amazing how ridiculously persistent all those neck biting and blood sucking stories can be.
Oh, and apparently, once Kat turns twenty-five, she'll have the unprecedented and long awaited ability to facilitate the Angelic healings - a fact not everyone is too happy about.
It seems some impressively nefarious forces have been hard at work over the centuries keeping all that convoluted vampire propaganda firmly in place, and Kat's impending 'gifts' could pose a problem.
Provided she actually makes it to her next birthday that is.
