I wrote this book to show the different struggles of being a teenager today school, sports, friendships, crushes, and the constant pressure to fit in. But beneath all that, I wanted to dig into something deeper: how easily a good person can be corrupted by their own mind, and how the fight against yourself can be the hardest battle of all.
For Henry, Year 7 should have been simple. But when he begins seeing a shadowy figure that no one else can, his life twists into a maze of fear, blackouts, and broken memories. The voice in his head pushes him closer to chaos, tempting him with promises of power while feeding on his darkest doubts. As his friendships fracture and his sense of self unravels, Henry discovers just how fragile the line is between light and darkness, between who you are and what you could become.
Chasing Shadows is more than just a story about surviving school it's a raw, emotional exploration of growing up, mental health, and the invisible battles young people fight every day. It's about friendship, fear, obsession, and the terrifying reality of what can happen when the mind turns against itself.
