In this AU, Nico is a prince who has befriended the young merboy, Will. When his sister dies and he blames himself, he finds himself pushing Will away to the point where he forgets he ever existed, his mind convincing him his mermaid friend was just a figment of his imagination. Besides, mermaids aren't real, right? This thought gets tested eight years later when Nico has run away from home to sail the seas with a group of other runaways.
