As Alex swiped Maureen's card on the machine, the bell above the entrance chimed, signaling the arrival of a new customer.
Normally, he'd give a glance and then look away, but this time, his gaze lingered. The man who walked in was like a ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and energy. His tanned skin glowed with a golden undertone, and his piercing ice-blue eyes seemed to see right through Alex.
The man's rolled-up sleeves revealed a hint of tattooed artistry on his forearms, adding to his enigmatic charm. A delicate dark neck tattoo peeked out from beneath his collar, subtly accentuating his chiseled features. His athletic build was evident even under his attire, exuding quiet strength and control.
As the man approached the counter, his gaze locked onto Alex, and the air seemed to thicken. Alex felt transfixed, unable to tear his eyes away from the man, whose gaze seemed to hold secrets and stories that only he could see.
The man's eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Alex, his expression unreadable, yet somehow, Alex felt seen and understood in a way that was both exhilarating and unsettling.
"Afternoon."
The man's deep, smooth voice was like warm whiskey, low and resonant, with a subtle vibrato and a hint of mystery.
Alex's entire being relaxed, his shoulders softening, as if the man's single word had unlocked a deep sense of tranquility within him. His lips parted slightly, a gentle exhale escaping as if the air had been sweetly stolen from his lungs.
