When the war causes four refugee children from the city to ask for asylum within the walls of Professor Kirke's private estate in the country, Rosemary thinks it may finally be a chance for her to perhaps gain a friend or two. Only one problem with that, though. She's got no idea how to talk to others her age. When the youngest child in her care gets herself caught in the middle of a mythological war between the monstrous dark forces of an evil ice-witch, and the loyal followers of a magical lion, teenage awkwardness seems to become the least of her troubles as everything she thought she knew about the world is shredded before her eyes. - First in the Fearless series!
