"The Feather leaves no Trail." Slate is stuck in the Horizon Net, and he wants out. This extremely complex world of code layer after code layer only lets the best hackers and gamers into its grounds. Boiling desert by day and icy tundra by night, Slate's only hope of survival in this deadly terrain are the "Pact members," an elite group of scrawny-looking, useless nerds. After all, what harm can a bunch of ex-gamers possibly inflict when put against a world filled with witchlings and devil beasts? As Slate rises through their ranks, he discovers secrets, about a mysterious Master S who was the only fellow in HN to disappear. Who is this man, and how did he escape? Faced with almost impossible challenges, Slate must fight through the levels of the game alongside his new friends, to find the way out, or die trying. © 2015, Kandakx. The Horizon Code. A star-faring religious cult has created an army of robotic zealots designed to follow holy scripture. As the robotic menace spreads across the galaxy, it takes prisoners to be 'excommunicated': hooked into a neural simulation of eternal torment. Captain Rolland Barron leads the Sol Federation Starship Excalibur on a diplomatic mission. Cassia LaCroix is a wormhole hunter, earning a living scouring the galaxy for valuable tunnels through space-time. Prince Zoojin, a psychic alien from a distant galaxy, must prove himself worthy of the throne of Paxis Prime. The paths of these characters converge as they pursue their own motives, leading them towards the mechanical legion that is sweeping across the galaxy. It's been a year since terrorists used Magic to destroy the Empire State Building. A year since the world discovered Magicians exist. A year since we had to go into hiding. These days, anyone revealed as a Magician is beaten, imprisoned, or killed. After starting a new life with my uncle, my only goal is to avoid getting discovered. I don't plan on joining the fight for Magician equality. Just like I don't plan on saving a mysterious stranger from my old life. And I certainly don't plan on winding up in the middle of another Magical terrorist plot. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care about my plans. And the more I try to live an ordinary life, the more I seem to find myself in extraordinary danger. ---- Thanks so much to @AmaraAodhfin for the great cover!

What if we were the first in our part of the galaxy to discover the secret of faster than light travel? What if this discovery was 10,000 years before it was supposed to be? Our neighbors had been watching for centuries and were surprised with our early arrival into the Web of Worlds... The Year is 2166: To the people of Earth, the universe seemed to be a very lonely place. Astronomers have discovered tens of thousands of planets; many had indications of organic life. SETI had been searching for signals for over 200 years. There had been a few tantalizing bits of radio or radar energy received but nothing ever proven to be of intelligent origin. But there was an alien civilization out there, in fact many of them linked together in a Web of Worlds. They were watching us quietly, carefully and patiently. It had long been the prime directive of the Web that no developing civilization be contacted until that civilization made it into interstellar space on their own; and that always took time, lots of time. Most Web worlds took 1,000 years or more to go from steam to the atom and none had made it from the atom to a sublight stardrive in less than 5,000 standard years. Every civilization of The Web had proven that faster than light travel was impossible, so there was plenty of time to watch the Earth... The watchers were astounded with the speed of progress of human science and also horrified at the periods of violence. By 2076 nuclear fusion power was widespread on earth. By 2100 the first interplanetary fusion ships explored the Sol system. The men and women of the Anglosphere Alliance began their first missions in ships approaching 0.1c. At that velocity, manned flight to even the nearest stars would take a lifetime. What would happen if a beautiful engineer and a brilliant physicist stumbled upon an artificial gravity field which would make a faster than light drive possible... It's amazing how significantly our lives can change in such a short amount of time. Whether it's a fateful meeting with an old friend, a chance event, or an epiphany that seems to materialize from thin air, the lifelong chain of events that follow forever set us on a different path. My life changed in a matter of minutes. The choices I made led me to a life of crime and caused me to become the worst sort of criminal; I became a traitor to the Country of New York. For better or worse, the path my life has taken is irreversible. I've killed, I've died, and I've risked my life in attempt to destroy a society built on over one hundred years of lies and corruption. Though I have regrets, I'm proud of the way I handled things. My name is Jacob Ashton, and this is my story. -------- Absolute Knowledge is the first of a trilogy which takes place in a dark, futuristic New York City set in 2146. The Country of New York is divided into three physical tiers and the faceless Government is working to establish Absolute Knowledge. Working As Thinkers, the citizens of the Slums are paid for their thoughts and given vouchers needed to sustain their cost of living. Since the Government controls almost everything, most citizens are forced to either work as Thinkers or turn to a life of disconnect from society under the harshest of conditions. In Absolute Knowledge, every thought has a price. Coming to print and retail in 2017! http://drewcordell.com

Where's the way the shades are walking? Where's the feet that crushed the cleavestones? Are you asking What's that thunder Rolling in the caves and caverns? I am urged, yes forced to tell you Of the rivers and the grottos Of the fierce-proud jackalopes They are in the deep of cosmos Under borderworld Xibalba They are skull-flames in the darkness Lighters of the smoke and builders Of the pylons and the great roads That leads from here into hereafter By the shores of river Lethe In the mountains, near the forest Betwixt the dream cave and the danger Of the deep-steep walls of fire In the house of shades and ladies Horns of fire, ears of heart-smoke Steps held windward, will-hearts flaring Teeth to cut the ancient demons The sound of thunder all beneath us Is the stomping of their laughter Rebounding from shaman to scrivener Of the fierce-proud jackalopes Hear me sing the song of legends And the hope of the departed
