Lena Irina Rozanov is the adopted daughter of Ilya Rozanov. Her mother died in the hospital bed shortly after giving birth to her. After that, her father turned to drugs and eventually died from an overdose. At that time, Ilya Rozanov was nineteen years old. He saw an advertisement about her in the newspaper. Because of his own past, he knew he had to do something for this little girl. Two weeks later, they saw each other for the first time at the adoption center. Ilya was certain that this girl would turn his whole life upside down. His career in Boston had only just begun, but he was willing to do anything to call this girl his daughter. And so it happened: less than a month later, he suddenly had a two-year-old child living in his home. In the beginning, things were a bit difficult, but as time passed they slowly began to get used to each other. Scott is now married to Kip, their son Theodore (Teddy) is also a New Yorker Wolves hockey player and best friends with Nikolai. Ilya and Shane have had the cottage remodelled as a family vacation place, along with other rooms for guests. Nikolai takes this as an opportunity to invite Scott, Kip, and Teddy during the summer break. Falling into the Heated Rivalry rabbit hole was absolutely not on my 2025 bingo card-but a few Tarlos pages I follow on IG kept posting about Shane and Ilya, and well... here we are. I read Heated Rivalry and The Long Game in three days, loved them to pieces, and couldn't believe how similar the series feels to the actual content and emotional beats of the books.
