Being the son of Garmadon sucks. Lloyd would know, wouldn't he? One day it turns around when a certain boy with a lot of hair gel comes to his rescue with his friends. His life as Lloyd Garmadon just got a bit better, but would it last? Outside of school Lloyd loves time at the Warehouse. Seeing his ninja friends is awesome! He's known as Green, and absolutely loves the other ninja. A nervous Lightning, confident Water, chill Earth, smart Ice, laid back Wind who happens to be his cousin Morro, and a cute and hotheaded Fire. Wait, what?

Lloyd is dead. At least, that's what the ninja believe. After losing their leader, the monastery that once felt like home becomes unbearably quiet. Each of them grieves in their own way, but Kai takes the loss harder than anyone. He blames himself. And eventually, he walks away. Kai quits being a ninja, abandons his friends, and disappears into the shadows of Ninjago. Nobody knows where he went-or what he's becoming. Months pass. Kai finds a new world beneath the city: underground fighting pits where strength is everything and mercy means nothing. At first, he's simply trying to survive. But as the fights become more dangerous, so does Kai. He gets stronger. Tougher. Colder. The cheerful, reckless Fire Ninja everyone knew slowly disappears. Soon, Kai becomes an undefeated legend. A mysterious fighter who enters the most dangerous pits, fights opponents armed with weapons, and somehow walks away victorious every time. Nobody knows his name. Nobody has seen his face. The room falls silent. They tell him the truth. Kai quit. Kai left. And nobody knows where he is. Determined to bring their missing brother home, the ninja begin a mission to find him. But when they finally discover rumors of an undefeated fighter hiding behind a mask, they realize they may be searching for someone very different from the Kai they remember. Because Kai didn't just disappear. He became someone else.
