Marshall's daughter Hailie volunteers at a community arts center as part of a school project. One day, she brings home a copy of a zine made by the teens - raw poetry and short stories. Curious, Marshall flips through it and is unexpectedly moved by the writing. He notices the editor's name: Kate Caldwell. Later, when Hailie invites him to a small event at the center, he meets Kate in person. She recognizes him, but doesn't fan over him - in fact, she's blunt and unimpressed by celebrity. Her disinterest is disarming, and it draws him in. They begin a slow friendship. Kate, still dealing with the fallout from her own past, is wary of trust. Marshall sees a kindred spirit in her - someone who knows pain, reinvention, and how words can both heal and destroy. Is there any chance for them?

Marshall Mathers is asked to check out a fan fiction story by a friend worried he's being sold out again. Instead he catches himself wondering what the author is like in real life and eventually decides to find her. Does life really imitate art and lead to love?

Daniela Schreiber, 42, is the head and boss of a small, but well known financial company which is specialized in bankruptcy cases. November 2016 she receives a call from Mike Duggan, mayor of Detroit, to ask for her help in bringing the city back to a normal level and out of the red numbers. His predecessor had left no other choice to file for municipal bankruptcy July 18th, 2013 and Duggan is now determined to do everything to help ‚his' city. After a lot of persuading, Daniela gives in and moves to Detroit to do what she does best. What will happen when a man she frequently sees at a gas station will catch her interest?! A man which also calls Detroit ‚his' city and hometown. What happens when Daniela will get captivated by no one less than Marshall Mathers?!
