Mortal AU - Nico di Angelo in Gotham *** *** *** Nico knew two things growing up in Gotham. Batman's team wasn't as good as you might think. And the Red Hood was a lot better than you might think. Well, that and to avoid the cops and Wayne family, but that was just common knowledge. So when he finds out a close friend of his is the Red Hood, he doesn't know what to think. When he finds out that the Batfamily and Wayne family alike are harassing him, he knows exactly what to think.

Nico attempts a long-distance shadow-travel to visit Hazel, but his powers falter due to lingering exhaustion and the sheer emotional toll of the wars. Instead of Camp Jupiter, he lands in a dark, unfamiliar alleyway in a city unlike any he's known: Gotham. The sheer density of human despair and darkness in Gotham is overwhelming, almost physically painful for him. He encounters petty criminals or a low-level gang, instinctively using his powers to defend himself, but he's disoriented and vulnerable.
