**FAIR WARNING: YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, BUT IT IS THERE, AND WORTH THE READ. IF YOU ARE OVERLY SENSITIVE, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK* Logan Pierce and Noah Locke are sworn enemies. Both at the top of their class, holding themselves to the highest standards; both captains of their volleyball teams, Logan as the girls captain, Noah as the boys; and both constantly playing seemingly harmless pranks to get back at one another. Or, at least, they're usually harmless... If one thing is true, Noah Locke and Logan Pierce are not friends. But does that mean they could never be friends? Or transcend their title as enemies? Logan might take things too far sometimes, but there's a reason behind the angry front she puts on, and in order to get behind it, someone needs to show her that there's more to life than being the best at everything. Cue Noah Locke. When the two volleyball teams are sent away to a team bonding camp for a week over Fall break, Logan and Noah must learn to get along for the sake of their teams. Partnered up and made to do activities together and bond, the goal is for Noah and Logan to stop this ongoing feud. And when something happens at the bonding camp that brings Logan's vulnerable side up to bat, Noah is the one who has to bring her back. While Logan and Noah explore something other than hatred for one another, there are secrets and people who could be working in toll to bring them apart. But will they be able to transcend those factors and stop fighting for once? Or were they destined to be enemies forever? "Better Than You" challenges the idea that enemies have to stay enemies forever, and proves that if you don't run away from love, you may just find where you were meant to be.

"So this was all just a game to you . . .this whole time, you pretended to like me in order to humiliate me in front of the entire school?" An air of melancholia surrounded me, eyes watery like never before. "Were your feelings for me ever real?" There wasn't even a trace of an apologetic expression on his features as he tucked his hands in his pockets, before he gave a nonchalant shrug. The sudden urge for revenge became a prominent priority. He regarded me passively. "It's not my fault that you fell for me in the first place." he justified as he advanced my way, closing the gap between us. Unstably, I strode backwards on the concrete. ". . .stay back." I whimpered. "You're nothing but cold hearted." ·•● Two years ago, Emery Roy was tragically exposed to what some could call an intense betrayal all thanks to the originator - Dean Darnell. Everything went downward spiral after they started dating. What appeared to be a match-made in heaven, turned from blissful to disastrous the moment Dean humiliated Emery in front of the entire school, leaving her completely heartbroken. So to avoid him at all cost, she did what any person would do: transfer school. Fast forward two years later. What happens when she's returning back to Roosevelt High, for the first time during senior year? She only has a few tasks: avoid Dean and face her obstacles. The only question is will she succeed or will she get fooled again? Going into my last year of high school, I needed the chance to have my world shifted by Bailey Connors. Bailey Connors: I broadcasted my crush on Beckett Davis in the 2nd grade after decorating him a cookie. And every time after that when I can't control how my face heats around him. My grandfather adores the boy next door, and who doesn't? I'm embarrassed of how long it took me to reach for things I may want, instead of just letting things happen to me. Archer Morales has never believed his life was meant to be anything other than pure hell in which every minute feels like a struggle to keep breathing. That's why he's so keen on ending it. Not because he wants to, but only because he has no idea how to stop the dark, intrusive thoughts or the crippling depression that's always kept him in a chokehold. At this point, Archer has all but accepted that this is simply how he is - broken. He doesn't know if he even wants help or how to ask for it, and admitting he needs it when Archer's own mother has demons of her own to battle doesn't seem like an option. Things are hard enough keeping the family coffeehouse running and making sure Archer's little sister, Rosie, never learns the horrid truth about what happened to their father - or how much Archer feels responsible for it. Just as he's sure he's mapped out his next steps to permanently solve his problems, the last person in the world Archer expects to make him think twice enters the picture: Hadley Jamison. He doesn't know what to make of the popular girl who always seems to be smiling and is way too determined to become his friend. Archer is overly suspicious of Hadley and her intentions at first, but the walls he's spent so long building to keep himself safe start coming down much quicker than he would've thought. Despite all the change - and some of that change Archer can admit is good - there's still one thing he's certain of: nothing good lasts forever. At least, that's what he's always told himself. But now that the blinders are coming off and Archer realizes he's not as alone as he'd thought, he can't help but be terrified of what will happen if the very thing he never really thought existed - love - is snatched away from him. And possibly the hardest lesson Archer is about to learn is that while you can't run from your past, you can change your future - even if you always felt like you never deserved one.
