Seven-year-old Harry is sick and alone. His parents never wanted him - they beat him, abused him, and treated him like a slave. When he's diagnosed with leukemia, they decide he's nothing but a burden. One drunken night, they leave the gas stove on, setting the house on fire - and flee without a word. Without looking back. They leave Harry sleeping in the attic.
The fire department arrives almost too late. Commander Liam risks his life to find the soot-covered child hidden under a bed. At the hospital, Liam's husband, Zayn, discovers the boy is sick, battered - and completely alone.
No one comes for Harry. No one misses him. So Liam and Zayn take him home.
But Harry doesn't know love. Or safety. Or the words "You'll be okay." Only hunger, fear, and pain. And while his body is weak from chemo, it's the emotional scars that cut the deepest.
But for the first time in his life - someone stays.
