It's been a few months since Edwin, Charles and Crystal left Port Townsend after the death of their friend Niko. They've done their best to move on. In the meantime, they've matched wits with Desire of the Endless, and Edwin has started dating the Cat King. A mysterious figure has a plan to murder both Edwin and Charles. But they are one step ahead. But when Jenny disappears, the two ghost are devastated. They are determined to find her. Charles begins to think about his sexuality, and figuring out if he's gay or not. Charles eventually decides to tell him, and Edwin is shocked. But than after an argument after a failed attempt to look for Jenny, Edwin leaves? Charles finds him at Jenny's old collage and then things get different, Edwin changed, and he's not loving and innocent anymore... but what is he then?

A few months after their return from Port Townsend, the Cat King shows back up in Edwin's life. He's bent on courting Edwin, and has somehow acquired a magical collar that allows them to properly feel each other. Edwin meets him in secret, unsure of whether he's ready to tell Charles about the relationship. In the meantime, business at the Dead Boy Detective Agency continues. They receive a case where a woman is trapped between life and death, tethered between the mortal realm and the beyond by a cursed sorcerer. But there may be more going on than meets the eye, and an Endless pulling the strings from the shadows...

I have yet to create an idea, but my intention lies here: -Payneland Fanfiction -Slow Burning -- Revolves around Edwin and Charles -- both of their thoughts, lovey-dovey and sad -- but hopelessness in contradiction. ***My intention may change, depending on how I'm feeling, and on suggestions, if I get any.*** I must warn anyone who views this: - This is my first Wattpad story, and I may not have much planned. - The story may end up jumbled up, as what I write could reflect the process of my very thoughts, as if they were a metal sponge (metal sponges hurt a lot when you use them, it's very bad in the sensory sense :((...) It is my favourite; based in the '70s, a school AU where Charles and Edwin are roomates - sounds bad - but it is magnificent. Read it. 🙏

[This stories on hold/ in a weird limbo state for now] FYI- This is a character x reader story!! Y/N L/N portrays themself as just a normal person, living a normal life, in a normal town. But, unbeknownst to her new friends, the 'dead boy detectives' - Edwin and Charles - and their psychic Crystal Palace, Y/N isn't as normal as she claims to be. Y/N is one of the Endless children. She is Desolation the Endless. The eighth child, the one who ran away, who's been hiding all her life. (Y/N is not strictly a female character, I just use she her pronouns to make my life a little easier when writing! But the gender has nothing to do with the overall character!) (!!Important note!! If you've been reading this story as it comes out, you might know Y/N was originally Decay the Endless, but I'm changing it to Desolation the Endless- it makes more sense because she seen as pointless and useless by her siblings, and is afraid of being alone) I'm going to lean into a more Edwin x Reader storyline, possibly with some Cat King stuff sprinkled in.
