Decades of wars and unrest have clawed at the sides of Pyrrhia's dragons for as long as they can remember, and the tales of true peace and dragonets of prophecy are simply whispers of the past. Shrike has never been regarded by his tribe as a real SkyWing. His mother fell ill and passed away when he was a dragonet, and his father, a royal SeaWing, was executed by his dictatorial queen as soon as it was found out that he'd had an affair with a common SkyWing.
