Markus is a lowly cobbler's apprentice living in the tiny village of Adigrad in the kingdom of Rasigald. His parents have both died so Markus is left alone. Until one day a Mage appears in the village, and tells Markus he is the only hope they have left, and he must come with him to the king's court immediately. With nothing left to lose, Markus joins the Mage on his journey to the castle, meeting friends and foes along the way, all the while a mysterious power grows within Markus, cuing the Mage to begin training him.
