The revolution started out as monarchy, and it ended as a monarchy. The War of the First Coalition is fought between the French Republic (Kingdom of France) and Great Britain, Holy Roman Empire, Spain, etc. Same thing with the War of the Second Coalition. In 1801, Great Britain changed into the United Kingdom after incorporating Ireland
