"Duch" nie jest opowieścią o bohaterskich czynach i wierności szczytnym ideałom, lecz o zwykłych ludziach, pełnych słabości i wad, a jednak zdolnych do poświęcenia dla tych, których kochają. Rozdartych pomiędzy dwoma narodami i dwiema tożsamościami. O decyzjach podejmowanych w imię mniejszego zła. Opowieść oparta jest luźno na historii mojej babci i prababci. "- Gratuluję. Jaki znak twój? Krzyż złamany. Kto cię stworzył? Zawierucha. Co cię czeka? Gałąź sucha. Popularny w Krakowie wierszyk zrobił na nim większe wrażenie, niż się spodziewałam. Twarz mu stężała, zniknął z niej ten bezczelny uśmieszek, cofnął się o krok. Milczeliśmy dłuższą chwilę. Usiadł na sofie, zapalił papierosa i odezwał się spokojnym, niemal łagodnym tonem: - Pani mąż trafił do dulagu w Stargardzie, następnie został przewieziony do oflagu w Arnswalde. Tam ślad się urywa.
