Amanda Carlson met Duff McKagan when she was 17. She fell in love with the tall blonde bassist from Guns N Roses at a concert GNR performed at the Troubadour. She felt that she found true love in Duff. He was not like any guy she had ever dated before. He was wild, charismatic, and sweet. For Duff, Amanda was the girl that he never thought he would find. She was not a groupie like the other girls he dated before. She was genuine, sweet, kind, and beautiful. It seemed like nothing could go wrong for the two of them. Guns N Roses were finally getting noticed with their debut album Appetite for Destruction and Amanda found her soulmate in Duff.
