The main character is a ninja named Ryu who serves a secret organization that carries out missions for the authorities without showing his true face. He meets the widow Kayo, whose husband, a samurai, died under mysterious circumstances. Kayo is now isolated, as women at that time were not allowed to go out without a man, and her life is confined only to the walls of her home. However, she discovers a strength in herself that she did not know before.
