Kayla is an orphan and before her 18th birthday she wants to find some family - any family. She journeys to the small town of Northrend where her mother grew up. She makes an unlikely friend and finds an unexpected family

It has been four years since Oakley, her mum, and brother fled to Australia. With the trials looming, she makes the decision to return to England. Oakley is desperate for closure so she can put the past behind her and move on with her life. A sad poem I'm entering in the contest based off of Ellen Hopkins manifesto.

I never wanted this life. I didn't want to become a Seeress or have a voice in my head telling me what to do or become a rogue. I left my family behind to protect them and am careful not to develop any relationships to put more people at risk. Everything changed one night though. My name is Freyla and this is my story.

This story is set in Belfast Northern Ireland in the 1980's Fed up moping, after her break up with her two timing boyfriend Johnny, 18 year old Kelly Caruthers agrees to go along to a night out with her brothers girlfriend Chrissie to a disco at a local army Barrack. Here she meets Danny Phillips a young soldier serving his time there, when she accidently knocks his drink over him, she finds herself getting noticed by him, when he insist he repays her back by promising a she would have a dance with him. Kelly isnt out looking for romance, after her recent failed relationship, but Danny still has a way of winning her around with his cheeky charm,
