She's going to be working alongside the detectives Burkhardt and Griffin which puts her in close proximity with their captain, Sean Renard. This is exactly what she wanted. Her colleagues expect her loyalties to lie within the police force, but Maeve knows better. They lie elsewhere and her colleagues, especially Renard, can't find out. She finds herself in a situation where she is questioning her loyalty and has to make tough decisions to either save her own skin, or someone else's who just happened to have grown on her. My adoption into the Burkhardt family had been explained to me several times, something always felt off. Nick and I had moved around our whole lives with our Aunt Marie.
