There are hundreds of fantastic books about writing for hopeful authors to choose from, but most of them are boring, complicated, and bogged down by filler. This little book is brief, straight forward, and easy to understand. I hope it will serve as an easy-to-read manual to help serious writers perfect their craft. I should say right off the bat that I am NOT an expert; I forget my own tips all the time! However, I do know what generally works for me, so I thought I could pass it on to my friends at Wattpad. One last note: this book is for writers who have a basic understanding of grammar and story structure. If you’re interested in more fundamental steps you can take to write a great story, check out the companion to this book!

Welcome Wattpadders! This book will be short and to the point. I won’t bore you with mundane grammar rules or the crap you learn in English class, but I will offer simple suggestions on how to improve your writing. These are tips that I use every day when I sit down to write. Nothing fancy, just the basics. I can’t promise that your “hotness” will go up, but I can guarantee that you’ll be a step above the people who don’t implement these techniques. Also, I encourage you to link to this book when commenting on other’s work. Sometimes it can be draining typing out the same suggestions over and over. I’m not trying to gain votes or comments with this book, I’m just here to provide budding writers with simple methods to hone their skills. So, with that brief introduction out of the way, let’s figure out how to improve your stories on Wattpad!

Sloan DiLaurentis didn't mean to find a home in Briar's hockey house. But somewhere between the midnight kitchen conversations, shared hoodies, and Beau Maxwell showing up at her door every night asking to cuddle, the house-and the people inside it-started feeling like hers. Beau was never supposed to be more than harmless flirting. Except now he knows her coffee order, sleeps better beside her, and looks at her like she's his favorite thing in the world. And Sloan's starting to realize she might feel the same way. Too bad keeping secrets in a house full of hockey players is almost impossible. Especially when everyone already knows they're in love. Everyone except Dean.

Dean blinked, not understanding. Not fully. "Sick how?" Rosie pressed a hand to her chest. Pain flared beneath her palm. Sharp now. Wrong. "I'm sick," she repeated. Dean stepped forward immediately. "Okay. I'll take you home. You'll feel better tomorrow." The gentleness in his voice broke her. "No, Dean." Her knees weakened. Beau caught her elbow. "Rosie." She looked at them both through tears. For weeks, she had imagined telling them. Not like this. Never like this. Not in a bar with music pounding and her heart misfiring in her chest. When Ana confronts her new neighbour after being kept up all night by his sex noises, she's mortified to discover he's none other than Freddie-the police officer who arrested her abusive ex-boyfriend last month. The pair interact only when necessary and do so with light-hearted insults and harmless pranks. But when a baby shows up on his doorstep with a note claiming to be his, Freddie suddenly needs his neighbour for more than just a casual flirt. They think their relationship is platonic, but when their attraction is no longer avoidable, they come up with one rule. Don't kiss. Everything else is up for grabs and if Ana can stick to that one rule, her heart will remain unbroken. She has no desire to fall in love and Freddie simply doesn't have time. They think it's the perfect agreement but when feelings intensify, it becomes clear their plan is failing. Secrets are unveiled. Hearts get broken. Love gets complicated.
