This is my love story - the quiet, patient, respectful kind of love that lasts a lifetime

First love - it says with you no matter what, you may think it's long gone. But, It's not the kind of love that fades completely; it lingers in the background, a shadow that follows you no matter where you go even in dark, i see you "my shadow". I've learned to live with it, to let it be part of who I am, without letting it define me. If you ask me, am i happy? yes - I'm happy now, but not fulfilled. My life is full, my heart content. But sometimes, late at night, when the world is quiet and still, I think back to you. To us. To everything we were and everything we couldn't be. And in those moments, with a heavy heart, I smile.
