Bodies floated between buildings, faces pale and still. The smell of brine and rot pressed into my lungs. Three thousand lives gone without warning. Jeanist's voice cracked slightly. "An entire town erased overnight." I kept walking, scanning through the haze, when Endeavor halted near a collapsed carriage. He was speaking quietly. I approached. "Endeavor, what-" Then I saw her.
