While traveling to California for the dispute of the final race of the Piston Cup racing season against The King and Chick Hicks, the famous Lightning McQueen and Braedey 'Bolt McQueen' Martin, accidentally damage the road of the small town called Radiator Springs, and the two are sentenced to repair it. Lightning McQueen and Braedey Martin have to work hard and find friendship and even love in the simple locals of Radiator Springs, changing its values during their stay in the small town, and becoming a true winner, and telling us that there's more to the race than just the finish line. What if Mario had fallen into the Dark Lands and Luigi into the Mushroom Kingdom? How would things go, and how would both of them manage and develop in these situations?

Super Mario Bros. Z Kai combines characters from Mario and Sonic franchises while having the events laid out in the style of Dragon Ball Z. The story is centered in the Mushroom Kingdom where Sonic and Shadow were survivors of a mass genocide in Mobius, their home land, by a humanoid robot called Mecha Sonic. By escaping their universe they met up with Mario and Luigi, later encountering Yoshi in a quest to stop this major threat and its perpetrator.
