The Central Park Zoo was a major attraction in America. There were monkeys, giraffes, reptiles... And a wolf. A she-wolf, strong and tall, proud and determined... She was a werewolf. Trapped within the bars of a zoo, unable to escape to the calling woods, unable to run to the howls of her mate... The mighty she-wolf was closed off from her world. Forced to stay in her wolf form, the cameras preventing her from shifting back to her human form, she struggled day by day to live up to the wishes of the public. She had no option but to listen to her keepers, or they would drug her, killing both her wolf and her human form. When the local pack's school comes to the zoo to learn about other animals, they realise there was a werewolf trapped. But this she-wolf isn't just a werewolf... she was worth a lot more. The news of the trapped she-wolf spread through the pack, and eventually through the entire state. More and more people come and see the wolf at the zoo, but they can't do anything with the naked eyes of the humans watching them. All the wolves start to come together to rescue the she-wolf, and return her to her pack. However, there are questions that need to be answered. Who is she? What pack is she from? How long has she been trapped there? Who is her mate? But more importantly, how are they going to get her out? #27 in Werewolf - Highest seen rank Watty Awards 2014 Contender (c) Copyright LibbyBlake

Rachel, a junior assistant in the cargo bay, wasn't prepared for the spaceship's AI to gain awareness during what should have been a routine update, nor had anyone expected it to take exception to the crew and the crates of illegal cargo aboard. Rachel races against time to try and get life-saving systems back online while stranded in the middle of deep space. Unfortunately for her, the AI can access every system, door, and airlock. As truths emerge, the AI realizes that even computers can make miscalculations, and it focuses on the young woman who had dared to confront it. Rachel is left floundering when the AI decides that she would make an excellent captain, albeit one in need of training. As she struggles to learn her new duties and dodge shady government groups, she must ultimately discover what it truly means to be a Starship Captain. ------- There is no romance in this story. HE WANTED TO ESCAPE HIS PROBLEMS. HE WANTED TO SEE THE FUTURE. HE NEVER CONSIDERED WHAT THE FUTURE WANTED. Confronted with suffering a painful death from cancer, Dan Sturges, a retired Ford’s engineer, foregoes treatments to try an idea of his own. After reading a theoretical article in Scientific American on time displacement, Dan builds a time machine in his garage. With nothing to lose but a few months of pain, Dan pins his hopes on a future where cancer might have been cured, or at least a quicker death by electrocution. How could he have known that what happens after he presses the button is more shocking than the eighteen car batteries he connected himself to? Greener Grass is a science fiction short story of 5,600 words by Michael J. Sullivan, author of the fantasy books of The Riyria Revelations and the Riyria Chronicles. This short story was the seed that grew into his full-length novel, Hollow World published in April 2014 by Tachyon Publishing. While the ideas are similar, the two worlds depicted are quite different. In Greener Grass, the world was created to provide a "twilight zone" twist. In Hollow World, the future provides an environment that may be utopian or dystopic depending on the readers perceptions.

"When I was born I was so small I was mistaken for a french fry. I was never an ordinary child. My best friend was a seagull. I was also illegal. Artificially intelligent people like me had been banned ever since that thing with the Twelve Elevens. Mother raised me for profit. Buyers and sellers had other plans for me, but then I grew a mind of my own. This is the story of how my brain ended up inside this box." Candles is a black-market, "artificially intelligent person" (or A.I.P., or "ape" in the colloquial sense, as in 'the planet of the'), an organic being, farm-raised on genetically engineered smoothies and destined for auction to the highest bidding criminal enterprise. Gifted with the ability to communicate with foul-mouthed seagulls and ill-tempered felines, this gender-less, age-less, race-less creature has to find its way to escape from the clutches of its mother and other assorted enemies, in this fairly exciting and ultimately utterly unexpected story.
