Yoko was desperate for a big break, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't summon the energy or motivation to push herself forward. Every story seemed to slip through her fingers, nothing worth chasing. The only thing that sparked her interest was the burglar-the one who seemed to slip through every net, never leaving a trace. But chasing a phantom like that? It seemed impossible. After all, how could you write about someone who didn't even exist in the media? To get close to such a figure, you'd need them right in front of you, ready to answer your questions. And the thought of that? Ridiculous. Who in their right mind would expect someone like that to just fall from the sky and land at their front door, asking for help? That would be crazy... right? Or Yoko helps Faye who is a vigilante in distress and in return Faye gives Yoko get all the big breaks she wants

"Mama, papa, what do you mean?" Yoko uttered. A phantom notification tone drums against her eardrum. It mocked her. Her mind reels back to the news articles, to the headlines. "Our families have been allies for centuries, sweetheart, but it's time we go beyond joint ventures and mergers, don't you think?" Please don't say it. "Marriage is the oldest contract in the world, so it's been decided. We'll cement our relationship with the Malisorns, become one family with them." No. Don't. "Yoko, you'll be marrying Faye." Fuck. or Yoko always knew that her life was never truly hers. From the day she was born, her path has been set, and she was fine with that. She loves her family, enjoys the business, and thrives under the pressures they put her under, but she never thought her family would force her to marry Faye Malisorn. Faced with an impossible decision between pleasing family and self-preservation, Yoko runs. She should have known there's nowhere on Earth she could hide where she wouldn't be found.

Ten years ago, Faye Malisorn walked away from the Family to pursue a new life as a doctor in the US, determined never to return. With a stable job and an uneventful, if monotonous, routine, she built a new identity as an unremarkable, law-abiding citizen. Just as her carefully crafted new life starts unraveling, an emergency forces her back home. New foes, different rules, a lot has changed in the streets of Bangkok in the last ten years, and she fully intends to stay as far away from it as possible. However, an unexpected rescue mission puts her on the path of the Lertprasert heir, the most respected assassin organization of the city, and unveils a conspiracy that threatens not only the Family but also the delicate balance of power in the streets. Faye must decide whether to confront the truth about herself and embrace the shadows she's been running from, or continue living a lie, risking a war that could consume everything-and everyone-she holds dear.
