Riley's two older brothers do everything they can to protect her from their violent step-father. But what happens when they realise she wasn't as protected as they thought. Will her brother's find out the dark secrets she has been hiding? And can she break free from her inner demons? This is Riley's story. *** "Pl..Please..." cried Riley as she stumbled on the steps. "I love it when you beg," laughed Vincent as he dragged Riley to her bedroom. Shoving her into the bedroom he closed the door behind him, turning the lock. "How long do I have?" asked Vincent as he sauntered up to Riley who backed herself against the wall. "Not long, Jason will be back any minute now," lied Riley, her heart beating hard in her chest. Vincent placed his arms on either side of Riley's body, trapping her in while dipping his head to her eye level. "I think my little birdy is lying to me," he smirked. "Now tell me, how long do I have," he asked again, pulling out a knife from his pocket and sliding it up Riley's back underneath her hoodie. He pressed the knife into the flesh of her back and started to press down, cutting slowly into her skin. "Tell me," he repeated. "Thr..ee h..hours," sobbed out Riley. // WARNING: This story contains themes of self harm, rape and violence. His pupils dialate and a smirk shudders my whole body just looking at it. He lowers his head and burries his head in my neck. A slight gasp leaves my lips as I can feel a low chuckle against my neck. "S-stop Luc-" I was cut off by his hot breathing hitting my soft skin. "You don't want me to stop. I know you don't, I can read you like a book." He says and I bite my bottom lip looking away. He buries his head in my neck and I feel a slight burn sensation on my neck. A moan leaves my lips as the burn hurts in a pleasurable way. A moan leaves my lips as his soft lips seem to be kissing around my skin and he starts to nibble on my neck causing me to moan a little louder. He pulls away and smirks at me looking at my slight panting as a small burning sensation is left where he kissed me. ... "Goodbye my love." I say as I grab a golden encrusted dagger off the shelf of treasures. I grab it by the handle and turn around to see him one more time. "I'm not playing with you open the wall!" He says and looks at me with a pitiful look. My hands shaking and I feel the cold metal against my chest plate. "I may never have made you the happiest or even made you interested in me but you have made me the happiest girl in heaven and hell." I say and push it closer to my to the point I can feel a sting. He looks at me with both hands on the glass and I can feel the light around my eyes dim slightly with fear. "I love you Lucifer." And with that I took my final breath as the metal pierced through me. A gasp of air leaves my lungs and I can see Lucifer with a defeated look as I each a hand to the glass before it turned back to stone and my body falls.

Book 1 in The Life and Death Duet This is the story of a boy who didn't think he could ever love somebody and a girl who definitely didn't believe in the idea of it. The story of Ace Morano and Harper Santos. They went from childhood friends to complete strangers due to an accident that cost them her memories of him and a broken heart on his part. Years later, they become friends. She now only knows him as the boy who's been known to be ruthless and cold, not the boy she'd known long ago. Could he help her remember? They were complete opposites, yet alike in some ways, but still got pulled together by an invisible yet strong force... Love. Was that enough? And most importantly, would that change both of their perspectives on it? Two souls living two completely different lives. With different pasts. With secrets they both refused to reveal. Could they make it? Will she fall for death before he can catch her? _______________________________ "Harper." he stated, blankly. His deep voice almost gave me a heart attack. I looked at him, slightly shocked. Wait- How does he know my name? Is he going to kill me? I gulped. "Ace." I muttered quietly and looked away, back to the river view. I sighed, taking it all in again. ©2021.
