Ashton is a freshman who is infatuated with Luke, his best friend Calum's friend, who is a Junior. He always tries talking to him and would do anything for the basketball star. But Calum was sick of Ashton talking about Luke all the time and let it slip to Luke that Ashton is crushing on him. What happens when Luke finds out?

Luke is a happy go lucky person. Everyone instantly smiles around him and laughs when he would say something funny. But sadly, Luke has to move due to his Mothers job. When he moves everyone immediantly loves him, and he gains 2 best friends. However, he notices a boy in the corner of the lunch room. Alone. He curiously goes over and chats with him, noticing how he didn't smile. He didn't laugh. And he didn't seem happy. This leaves Luke curious and wanting to accept the challenge of making the boy Smile Again.

Ashton Irwin tries to be like all other 17 year olds, but fails because people bully and judge him after coming out last year. He's suicidal and depressed until he meets a bisexual beautiful mistake named Luke Hemmings. His world spins around after his new friend (maybe even love interest) enters his life. "You saved me, for a bit, when I was about to drown, but you pulled me back to the surface. I was done but I love you. I was torn in two." Luke and Ashton used to be best friends. They were inseparable. High school came and they faded apart. Two weeks into their freshman year, they stopped taking altogether. Yet every single night, they texted each other "goodnight." What happens when Ashton just can't handle it anymore? warnings: swearing, depression, suicidal thoughts/actions, self-harm.

Ashton is okay right now. He's always like this after a bad bout. He starts off saying that the world is his oyster and he loves everyone, but when the energy and fresh success fades, so does he. Luke knows. He knows about all of Ashton's problems. He knows about the time Ashton was bullied nearly to the brink, the family deaths and friend losses, and the ups and downs, the latter of which seem to be more common lately. It's been so easy lately for Ashton to slip after a joke gone wrong, or a jab on Twitter. Ashton always says he's sorry, repeating it again and again if only to convince himself. Luke knows he's sorry, knows that he can't help it. And he'll sit by the bathtub for hours, holding Ashton, to make sure that he knows someone loves him. None of the other boys know. Ashton couldn't bring himself to tell them and face their disapproving stares too, and he wouldn't let Luke tell them, so he's stuck in this half state of secrecy and confession to Luke. Ashton hasn't gone too far yet, not far enough that Luke can't patch him up with gauze, antibiotics, and a long hug. But someday, someday, Luke knows Ashton won't be able to take it anymore, and Ashton will die. And Luke will be all alone.
