She sighed again as she stepped further into the room and closer to the hospital bed. "I'm here to interview you. To understand." "There's nothing to understand." She cried, her distress evident in her tone and the way she brought an arm closer to her chest while her nails scratched at her skin. JJ took notice of it. JJ knew it wasn't like her to keep her nails undone for too long. She wasn't vain - not anymore than JJ herself was - but if there was one thing she always made a point of having done, it was her nails. "I don't even know what happened."

JJ is going on maternity leave for her second baby, so she brings in the BAU her most trusted friend to replace her for the foreseeable four months. Agent Taylor Wilson is very dedicated to her job, and almost nobody can say a bad word about her. Everyone likes her and she adjust to the BAU quickly. However, everything will change when secrets of her past will return to haunt her once again... A fight with her boss, their past, and a very irrational decision will lead to a week of Christmas vacation which non of them will be able to forget.

A homicide in Louisiana makes the BAU revisit a series of old murders in the area that follow the same MO. And soon they discover that the case is much bigger than they originally thought. During the investigation, Agent Hotchner comes in contact with a number of relatives of the old victims. And one of them sticks out; Sofia Wade. Sofia is tough, driven and she's not shy to ask for the things she needs which includes Agent Hotchner's attention. But her involvement in the case and their big age difference warn Agent Hotchner to keep his distance.

A series of unsolved murders in Rusk County, Texas, has Sheriff Jules Knox at her wit's end as the clues seem to point in different, confusing directions. So, despite her dislike of bureaucrats, she contacts the FBI for help. The case file ends up in SSA Hotchner's desk and after a brief look, he decides that the BAU would consult and keep an eye on it while they work on more urgent cases. Until there is a shift in the case, and the bodies start dropping in a faster rate. Sheriff Knox communicates with Agent Hotchner interrupting him from other cases. He doesn't like her attitude, but decides that it is time for the BAU to fly down to Rusk, Texas. Will the two be able to work alongside each other?

Daniel was a diagnosed psychopath and schizophrenic who had been working with Lillia since he got admitted to the Institute. She learnt the ins and outs of his brain and knew more about him than his own mother did. The two spent long days together, sometimes having to eat meals opposite one another. This lead Daniel to believe things he only wished were true. When Daniel goes missing from the institute, great panic arises when multiple young women are taken off the streets and announced missing. When the BAU gets called to work the case and Lillia gets brought in to help, who knows what rabbit holes they'll all find themselves falling into.
