War of Hearts
maevesversion
"I would burn the world to keep you alive," he said, centuries of war in his tone. "Not for Zeus, not for Olympus, this is for me."
Amara had always lived a quiet, ordinary life - until the world she knew shattered in an instant. When an ancient relic, the Omphalos, the Navel of the World, was destroyed, its power surged outward and, impossibly, it chose her as its new guardian. In a heartbeat, she became the fragile center of a force so immense that even the gods themselves feared it: a mortal entrusted with the balance of existence.
Thrown into the heart of Olympus, Amara is forced to navigate a realm ruled by immortals, where politics are ruthless and rivalries eternal. Zeus seeks to cage her for her own safety, determined to control what he cannot risk losing. Hades lures with the promise of immortality, bending the boundaries of life and death in ways she cannot yet comprehend. And Ares, the god of war, violent, unpredictable, and infuriating, is tasked with keeping her alive, whether she wants him there or not.
At first, every encounter with Ares is a clash of wills: her quiet defiance against his relentless authority, her desperate desire for freedom against his instinct to control. Yet as threats mount and the world teeters ever closer to chaos, the lines between duty and desire blur. Ares begins to realize that protecting Amara is no longer a matter of orders, it is everything.
And for Amara, the journey is only beginning. She must decide how much of herself she can surrender, how much trust she can afford, and whether a human heart, fragile and mortal, can truly withstand the weight of divine power.
