At an early age, Keane Pettigrew learned his father died, fighting for a noble cause, killed by a madman and former friend, Sirius Black. Keane is left in the care of his grandmother after his mother dies tragically during childbirth. However, after a rough start, Keane lives a rather charmed life, growing up in the town of Fowey, where he spends his summers sailing, fishing, and of course, helping his grandmother tend to her garden. When Keane starts his first year at Hogwarts, he becomes friends with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley after being sorted into the Gryffindor house. Just like his father. Over the course of a couple of school years, Keane finds himself tagging along on a rather wild adventure. However, the party comes to an end when Keane learns that Sirius Black has escaped Azkaban. Not only is Sirius responsible for the death of his father, but for the death of Harry's parents as well. Hogwarts is on high alert, an old friend of his father arrives to teach, dementors surround the castle on a daily basis, and Keane believes that Sirius is coming for him to finish what he started twelve years ago. And it's only his third year.

In an interview, JK Rowling once said that she thought about writing Dudley Dursley into the Epilogue with a magical child. What if she had? This is the story of Dudley's daughter, Esther. Entering her sixth year at Hogwarts, Esther is becoming sick of stereotypes. Sorted into Hufflepuff as a first year, she feels destined to be only loyal and diligent: qualities of a sidekick, not a leader. And it's her last name, Dursley, that causes the uncomfortable disconnect between her and the Potter-Weasleys without them getting to know each other at all. But as she slowly befriends the Slytherin Scorpius Malfoy and captains her house's Quidditch team, Esther has the chance to prove to Hogwarts that not only is there more substance to Hufflepuffs than meets the eye, but that all stereotypes - of houses and last names - can, and should, be crushed.
