In this story Kenny Liu and Ellie Matthews are both stuck in a town in which monsters come out when the sun goes down. All they want is to survive and protect each other. Ellie Matthews is a 26 year old girl who came into the town with her friend Kristi Miller six months ago. Ellie and Kristi are both third-year medical students. She then met Kenny Liu and his parents a few months later. She now helps Kristi in the clinic and helps Kenny's mom in the diner from time to time. What happens when the rest of the Matthews family arrives in town? Will this affect everything Ellie has ever known about this strange place?
