Un po' perché sono Grifondoro viziati e spericolati che passano il tempo a fare scherzi idioti, un po' perché Max odia le persone. In generale. Come filosofia di vita. A sua discolpa, ha i suoi buoni motivi per avercela col mondo. Fuori dalle mura della scuola c'è una guerra, e lui sembra essere l'unico ad averne già dovuto pagare il prezzo, mentre gli altri continuano a vivere nella più beata ignoranza.
