Die Geschichte handelt von Jessica, sie ist mit ihren Eltern und ihrem älteren Bruder James nach Colorado gezogen weil ihr Onkel schwer krank wurde und sich jemand um seine Ranch kümmern muss. Für Jessica ist das eine große Umstellung und weil ihr Bruder nicht mehr zur Schule geht fühlt sie sich an ihrem ersten Schultag sehr unsicher und etwas einsam bis sie ein Schwarzhaariger gut aussehender Junge in ihrem Alter anspricht. Er führt sie durch die Schule und stellt ihr sogar seine Freunde und Familie vor. Es stellt sich heraus das sie beide in die selbe Klasse gehen und somit sehr viel Zeit miteinander verbringen. Jessica ist mittelgroß, hat braune bis kurz unter die Schultern hängende Natur locken. Sie hat braune Augen mit einem leichten Grün Stich.
