what runs through people's minds when they can't fall asleep? for you, it might just be what you ate for lunch that day, shallow thought, get to bed. for your best friend, they might be thinking of what their mother said to them that day. the first time she said she loved them and truly meant it. that she was trying, she really was, to be a better mother. for the old lady who lives alone, she might be thinking about her late husband, how he had the biggest smile and the brightest laugh. for the boy who works at the coffee shop, he might be thinking about how he has to tell his mother, sooner or later, he loves a boy. that she has to accept him for it. for the busker outside the bookstore, she might be thinking about the money she earned that day, grateful she'll be able to pay the rent for her apartment. all these people might be thinking very different things, but they all will doze off eventually. and tomorrow, they'll think about something new.
