تشمل كل مواجهتما في القصة الاثنين والتنافس بين المحقق واللص الشبح. كونان إيدوجاوا (باليابانية: 江戸川 コナン بالروماجي: Edogawa Konan) (تُلفظ كونان إدوگاوا) تغيّر اسمه في الدبلجة العربية من كونان إيدوغاوا إلى كونان إيدوجاوا. هو سينشي كودو بعدما تقلص حجمه إثر تناوله العقار السام عقار APTX4869 . يظهر بمظهر طفل في السابعة من العمر ولكن عقله لم يتأثر ومازال ذكاؤه ذكاء سينشي كودو محقق الثانوية. كايتو كيد (باليابانية:黒羽 快斗 وتقرأ كوروبا كايتو) شخصية خيالية من شخصيات ماجك كايتو، وظهر لاحقًا في سلسلة المحقق كونان كذلك للمؤلف غوشو أوياما، والده هو توتشي كوروبا (黒羽 盗؟) كان اللص الطائر الأول قبل أن يقتل في فرنسا عندما رفض سرقة جوهرة الباندورا لمنظمة شريرة. مات ولا يزال كايتو صغيرا وقالوا له أنه مات في إحدى عروضه للسحر لكن الحقيقة لم تكن كذلك ومرت السنين إلى أن عرف كايتو أن والده مات مقتولا لذلك قرر إحياء شخصية كيد اللص الطائر مره أخرى والبحث عن قاتل والده.

يوكيكو كودو (باليابانية: 工藤 有希子 ) هي شخصية خيالية في أنمي المحقق كونان حيث أنها والدة سينشي كودو. اسمها الحقيقي هو يوكيكو فوجيميني و تعمل كممثلة وتجيد فن التنكر هي وبلموت وقد تعلما فن التنكر من كوروبا تويتشي والد كايتو كيد. تعيش مع زوجهايوساكو كودو في لوس أنجلوس. في الحلقة 43، قامت بلعب دور فوميو إيدوجاوا حتى تكتم شخصية ابنها و تمنع ران من معرفة الحقيقة بعدما روى لها الدكتور أغاسا قصة ابنها سينشي مع المنظمة السوداء. وهي صديقة إيري كيساكي أم ران. يوساكو كودو (باليابانية: 工藤 優作) شخصية في أنميالمحقق كونان، وهو والد سينشي كودو. وهو كاتب قصصوروايات بولسية ويعتبر أكثر ذكاء من ولده وقد ساهم في حل الكثير من القضايا. أول ظهور له كان في حلقة رقم 43اختطاف المحقق كونان، وهو مقيم في نيويورك فيالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
