Bonnie came to Virginia to disappear.
A new name. A quiet apartment. A job surrounded by books. Three locks on the door and enough distance between her and the past to almost believe it can no longer reach her.
Then she meets Spencer Reid.
He is awkward, brilliant, and far too observant for her carefully constructed life. He notices the locks she checks three times. The scars beneath her sleeves. The way she watches every exit and steps away from hands that move too quickly. But in hi stead of demanding answers, Spencer offers her something far more dangerous:
Patience.
What begins with misplaced books and strange statistics slowly becomes midnight conversations, blue sticky notes, chess matches, and the unsettling comfort of being known. For the first time in years, Bonnie begins to feel safe.
But safety is a fragile thing.
When a string of violent crimes draws the BAU into the path of a predator who understands exactly how to break the human mind, the life Bonnie buried begins clawing its way back to the surface.
Because Bonnie didn't move to Virginia simply to start over.
She moved there so no one would ever find her.
And Spencer Reid has always been very good at finding what others try to hide.
