Y/N L/N was a soldier who has a deeper sense of justice and rightness.
He chose that life because he believed in protecting people-putting himself between danger and those who couldn't protect themselves. Then, during the Gem War, Homeworld took that choice away from him.
Captured, experimented on, and stripped of his identity, he became Subject 07-a human soldier turned into a Homeworld asset. His name, his freedom, and eventually even his sense of self were replaced by a single purpose:
Obey. Fight. Survive.
Until he met Rose Quartz.
She couldn't simply undo what had been done to him. She couldn't give him his old life back.
But she could ask him a question.
Why do you obey them?
For him, that question was enough to begin breaking the chains.
Eventually, he turned against Homeworld and helped the Crystal Gems free the humans being held captive. To the Gems, he became a story from the war-the mysterious human soldier known as Subject 07.
But He had never told Rose his name.
Then he disappeared.
Centuries passed.
The war ended. Homeworld changed. The Crystal Gems carried on. Humanity moved forward.
And He woke up.
Now he finds himself in a world he no longer recognizes, alongside a boy who knows nothing of the soldier he once was-and a group of Gems who remember Subject 07 as a piece of their history.
As Nathan slowly builds a life of his own, he must confront something more difficult than any battlefield:
Who is he when nobody gets to decide for him?
He was a soldier.
He was a weapon.
He was an asset.
But those were things others made him.
Y/N is nobody's soldier.
Not because he has stopped caring about people.
But because he finally understands what being a soldier was supposed to mean in the first place:
You don't fight because someone owns you.
You fight because you choose who you're willing to protect.
