Little did the other know, they both had slight feelings for each other although they had a rather messy past. They grow oddly quickly to learn of their feelings for each other, and maybe, just maybe, they could put aside their duties for spending time with each other and dual cultivating. Things may not seem as they are, and some things may seem impossible. Nothing is impossible for this god couple, and sometimes even the greatest need breaks. The future is unpredictable, and you will never be able to predict. In public they pretend to hate each other but in private they can't be apart. What happens when Feng Xin is sent on a solo mission and doesn't return? What is it about Mu Qing that Feng Xin always glares at, always scoffs at? And what is it about Mu Qing that lets it govern him completely? -- After Xie Lian and his husband take their honeymoon, ghost sightings are rising without their king to keep them in check. And it is those very ghosts that force the interactions, the hurt and the memories which lead to Mu Qing and Feng Xin making progress with each other, creating something together, almost a thousand years after they met.

After everything at Tong'lu, Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Feng Xin are getting along better than even before the first ascension. Something takes advantage of this delicate new beginning to attack Mu Qing. There's a sexual assault (first chapter), but it's not graphic and mostly off-stage. Explicit stuff will be consensual. I'm trying to subvert some noncon tropes. So that's why it'll seem very not great at first. Gonna take you to the gates of Tong'lu, but we're going to go right back to Puqi Shrine, I promise.
