She was raised as a dragon and underwent ancient dragon magic to bind herself to a small acid dragon named Jovu that resides within her most of the time, though is free to come out. They speculate that Libelle was left in the cabin on the mountain because she was born without legs, just a little bit of her thighs. But thanks to Jovu being bonded to her, when within her, he can share his body with hers. Granting her black scaled dragon legs that morph to take on the shape of regular human legs. But on Libelle's 18th birthday, the peace between dragon and humans is broken. Now Libelle must go into hiding so as to not be killed. While also figuring out why the humans would suddenly attack after five hundred years of peace and how to find the queen of the dragons. She happens upon Nevermore in a wounded state and meets Wednesday Addams who is exciting to finally have something to do after the so far boring school year.
