Every time I caught his gaze, something dark stirred behind his eyes.
Since last night, I'd hadn't wanted to acknowledge him. So I tried to perfect the art of pretending he didn't exist.
But today, for some reason, I couldn't stop myself from staring at him - like a creep - through my window.
Like some reckless part of me wanted to be caught.
And as if he felt it, his dark eyes found mine - and my throat tightened.
His stare didn't soften.
It ignited - molten and feral - tearing through every defense I had like fire through ice.
Something flickered low in my belly, and I shuddered.
"Good morning,"
But he simply stood there.
Didn't answer.
Didn't move.
Just stared.
For the first time, I wondered what it would feel like if that intensity wasn't meant to intimidate.
"What's your-"
Before I could finish, he turned sharply and disappeared inside the house.
The door slammed shut, the sound cracking through the quiet morning.
