Joong, a brilliant detective with a razor-sharp mind, and Dunk, a tender-hearted novelist with a soul made for love, have built three blissful years of marriage together. Their days are quiet, warm, and domestic Axel, their fiercely intelligent shepherd, sprawled across their bed while Dunk hums little melodies as he writes, Joong watching with a smile he only reserves for him.
But their peace fractures the moment Joong is called to a remote village where bodies have been turning up mutilated, each missing a different part. The locals whisper about an ancient witch who haunts the forbidden forest, luring victims with her haunting music before tearing them apart. Joong dismisses it as superstition. Dunk, ever the dreamer, is not so sure.
When they move into a beautiful old house on the forest's edge, Dunk begins to sense eyes watching him from between the trees. Soon, he starts to hum a melody he doesn't remember learning a song that feels older than language. And one night, drawn by the sound of an otherworldly instrument, he vanishes into the woods... only to return with a child who should not exist.
What begins as a case quickly unravels into something darker, stranger, and more intimate than either man could have imagined. The forest is alive with secrets, the witch's song weaves through Dunk's very bones, and Joong finds himself fighting not just to solve murders but to protect the man he loves from being claimed by something ancient and merciless.
