Some debts are paid with money. Others demand blood. Ulfat Zarwari spent twenty-six years believing she would decide the course of her own life. Then her father made a deal. And suddenly, she belonged to Rehman Dakait. A man feared across Lyari. A man whose name carried more warnings than introductions. A man she despised long before she ever met him. The marriage was never meant to be a romance. It was an arrangement. A transaction. A bargain struck between people far more powerful than either of them. And if there was one thing Ulfat hated more than Rehman himself, it was being forced into a life she had never chosen. The feeling was entirely mutual. Because Rehman Dakait had built his empire on control. Yet somehow, the one person he could never control was the woman who now carried his name. What follows is not a love story. At least not at first. It is a war. A relentless battle of pride, resentment, and stubbornness. A marriage where every conversation feels like a challenge. Every compromise feels like defeat. And every victory comes at the cost of another scar. Neither of them knows how to surrender. Neither of them knows how to forgive. And neither of them is willing to be the first one to break. But hatred is a dangerous thing. Especially when it is forced to live under the same roof. Because there are only so many times two people can hurt each other before they begin to understand one another. Only so many nights spent wishing the other would leave before the thought becomes unbearable. Somewhere between fury and devotion. Between destruction and protection. Between the desperate need to walk away and the terrifying inability to do so. Something begins to grow. Something neither of them wants. After all, the most dangerous debts are never written on paper. They are written in love, foolish enough to believe they can remain untouched. Qarz-e-Mohabbat A debt neither of them intended to owe.

Tarun and Roop met when she was returning from her house job. Tarun was leaning against a pole, eyes filled with rage; he knew he was fighting for a case he could never truly win. Roop, on the other hand, was extremely happy. She had just finished her house job. Roop was scrolling on her phone, sipping her coffee, unaware of the presence in front of her. Roop bumped into Tarun, spilling her coffee all over his lawyer's suit. Tarun was about to scold her when he looked up, and their eyes met. Her amber colored eyes were deeper than any ocean, Tarun felt as if he had fallen into her eyes. Roop kept murmuring apologies. She took her yellow, white embroidered dupatta to wipe his stained shirt. Tarun froze. He gently took her wrist and lowered her hand, gesturing that she didn't need to do that. Instead, he offered to go to a cafe and have coffee, as she had spilled hers on him. To his surprise, she agreed. Over time, their conversations became longer, and their silence felt comfortable. On Roop's birthday, Tarun proposed to her. Soon after, they got married. One stormy night, Roop returned late from an emergency and saw Tarun with his colleague, Anaya. Misunderstanding the situation, she rushed in, slapped him, and left despite his explanation. Over the years, both were acing their fields. She was a highly successful pediatrician, and he was one of the best criminal lawyers in the country. Their lives seemed normal; however, they missed each other every day. She missed the way he used to hug her and caress her hair. She still uses their picture as a bookmark in one of her medical magazines. Tarun still has her black hair clip, which she had forgotten to take. He still misses the way she would hold his hand when he was worried, grounding him. Almost 5 years later, they meet again on a mutual friend's wedding. Both are unaware of each other's presence until their eyes meet. All the silence of the five years feels louder than ever.

Around Ulfat, even Rehmaan's monster learns restraint. When she speaks, the devil inside him lowers his eyes, not out of fear, but reverence. And when tears gather in her otherwise peaceful gaze, something ancient and violent stirs within him-not to harm her, never that, but to rise against the world that dared to make her cry. He is a man whose name carries weight in the streets, whose presence alone is enough to silence rooms. He is powerful in ways that bend people, systems, and fate itself-yet in front of her, he is utterly powerless. The world knows him as cold, ruthless, unfeeling, but for a single glimpse of her face, for one unguarded smile, he would burn willingly and call it mercy. For Rehmaan, she is not merely love. She is his Imaan, the belief that keeps him standing when everything else is stained. She is his devotion, his mohabbat, his ibaadat, wrapped into a single breath. She is his Jaan-the part of him that still knows how to feel. To the world, he is a butcher, a gangster, a monster sculpted by violence and bloodshed, a man people fear and curse in the same breath. They call him heartless. They call him hell. But to her, he is safety. He is the steady anchor in a life full of storms, the quiet calm she returns to when everything feels too loud. He is her peace. He is her home. And at the end of every day, when the noise fades and the masks fall away, when the monster sheds his crown and the world forgets his sins, only one truth remains: she is Rehmaan's Ulfat, and he is Ulfat's Rehmaan. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Side ships: Hamza&Yalina Uzair&aarzu
