Marshall plans a special, private picnic in the park to spend some quality time hanging out with his best friend, Chase. However, a sudden emergency at the Lookout distracts Chase, causing him to completely forget their plans and leave Marshall waiting alone as a rainstorm rolls in. Deeply hurt and feeling betrayed, Marshall returns and avoids Chase entirely. When Ryder steps in to help, the two pups must confront their heavy emotions, work through a breakdown of trust, and learn what it truly means to keep a promise to a best friend.

While in DC at the White House, the pups cross paths with a 3 year old German Shepherd pup named Speedster who happens to be a part of the United States Secret Service assigned to the Presidential Protection Detail. After getting to know Ryder and the pups, Speedster suddenly, secretly and unintentionally develops feelings for Skye. Five years later, Speedster heads to Adventure City on vacation. One day, Skye, while taking a walk in Adventure City, she smells a familiar scent of something, or rather someone, that triggers a memory. As she tries to piece together her thoughts, she spots a dog that resembles a familiar pup on the other side of the street. It only takes her half a second to connect the dots in her mind. As Skye is reunited with Speedster, emotions run high as they finally reconnect. Speedster explains to Skye that he's taking a much-needed break from his duties as a Secret Service pup, with permission from the President of course but he has no idea for how long. As the two make their way back to the Aircraft Carrier HQ, the excitement and anticipation of their newfound reunion fills the air. When the two pups arrive Ryder suggests that one of the pups give Speedster a tour of the Aircraft Carrier HQ, and Skye eagerly volunteers... Much to the annoyance and irritation of Chase. Skye slips into a coma soon after, and her chances of survival become extremely slim, as her organs start to shut down one by one. Then it happens. Skye suddenly flatlines, and doctors frantically try to revive the Cockapoo pup. As the doctors continue their efforts to revive Skye to no avail, It becomes clear to Ryder and the other pups that Skye may not make it. How will it work out?
