"Justice isn't blind. It's hidden." In the shadows of society, a secret organization known only as 'The Deck' delivers justice the law refuses to serve. Led by the enigmatic Ace of Spades, Aou, each member holds a card - and a purpose. The King passes judgment. The Jack delivers pain. The Joker silences evil. And the Ace decides who lives... and who doesn't. But everything changes when Boom, a survivor sold into darkness, enters their world. Haunted by the past yet unbreakable in spirit, he may be the only one who can challenge the Ace - or capture his heart. Dark. Violent. Addictive. Royal Draw isn't about heroes. It's about who plays the right hand... when the world deals dirty.

Trying to remain calm about Tan's absence, he attempted to join in on the celebration. His celebration. In the past, he didn't usually like to do much to celebrate his birthday, but Tan was huge on celebrating birthdays so Fang always gave in, letting Tan plan whatever he wanted. He told Tan he didn't need a certain day for Tan to show his appreciation for him, that he showed him every day. But Tan always argued with him, saying those were just little things he did all the time, making them less special, and on birthdays and anniversaries, he needed to go bigger. Fang had tried, and failed, to convince Tan that all those little things meant just as much as the bigger gestures but had finally stopped trying, knowing Tan would probably do what he wanted anyway. But now here he sat in a room filled with decorations, snacks, presents, and no Tan.

Without looking up, he could sense the owner had slipped from the back and was now standing behind the counter. Tan flipped the pages of his sketchbook backwards until he reached a recent, unfinished drawing. Tracing his fingers along the pencil lines, he smiled to himself before looking up with a smile towards the owner and, luckily, was met with the smallest of smiles in return.

"Some words the speaker doesn't pay attention to, but the listener can't forget." In Tan's journey, the seemingly casual remarks of those around him linger like shadows, shaping his insecurities and self-image. As he navigates the complexities of friendship, love, and family expectations, he discovers that healing requires more than just positive affirmations; it demands vulnerability and openness. As Tan learns to confront the weight of those unforgotten words, he finds strength in sharing his struggles and embracing the love that surrounds him. Yet, the question remains: will he truly overcome the scars left by the past, or will the memories of hurtful words continue to haunt him? The path ahead is fraught with challenges, and Tan's story is far from over. Tanfang short story, exploring with more insecurities.
